7 Stylish Essentials

For A Successful 2017

The New Year can serve as an amazing change of perspective, allowing you to turn over a new leaf and giving you a chance for a fresh start. Refreshing your wardrobe and “entrepreneurial tool box” can set the tone for a successful 2017.

Check out these 7 tips to kick-start your powerful & stylish year!

We rely on technology constantly, and sadly the art of writing is being left in the dust. Every year, I look forward to choosing a new Agenda/Planner as a fresh, exciting way of getting a clean slate and a visual snapshot of my year to come. Plus, it’s so satisfying when you can physically cross something off your list. This year I opted for this beautiful pink version by Rifle Paper Co from Anthropologie ($30). Also available in blue.

In the same vein of writing things in your calendar/agenda as opposed to typing them into your phone, this amazing happiness journal – by another female trend-setter Mo Seetubtim – is a great way to keep your thoughts positive and remember to stay happy – 100 days at a time. Available in various colors – my favorite is this pale lavender (was $84, now $60)

I’m a big fan of flattering yet simple silhouettes in quality fabrics that you can dress up or down with accessories. Filling your wardrobe with dresses that have versatility can help generate looks suitable for both your corner office and the bistro around the corner. One of my newest discoveries comes from NYC designer Nora Gardner, who does a great job of combining fitted silhouettes with great craftsmanship to create pieces that have classic longevity for your wardrobe. My absolute favorite is her Evelyn Fit & Flare Dress ($305) with its feminine yet professional style.  Get 15% off your dress purchase using code “STYLEDBYDINA15” at checkout.

Speaking of handbags, lugging your laptop into the office every day may mean carrying multiple bags, but let’s face it –  that’s neither convenient nor stylish. Us women tend to carry our lives in our bags, so finding one that’s both practical & pretty is no easy feat. The Jemma Emma Bag ($398) comes to the rescue! Designed by a fellow female entrepreneur, Joanna Lau, this handbag combines elegance with function in a gorgeous leather that fits up to a 15” laptop, but also has room to fit everything else you need to carry around to stay organized and polished.

A perfectly tailored blazer in a statement color or neutral hue can elevate an otherwise casual or incomplete outfit to “go-getter professional chic”. Sleek lines and a stand collar will give the blazer even more authority, and a pulled-together feel. My personal favorite is this Regent Blazer by J.Crew – and it comes in bold colors and easy-to-mix neutral tones.

Taking a meeting at your local coffee shop can be distracting and can send mixed messages about your professionalism, but if you’re not ready to commit to moving your office out of your home just yet, a WE Membership to WeWork is a great alternative. For $45 per month you’ll get 2 conference room credits (or a day of work in a “Commons” building), plus access to a robust network that you can tap to make connections, attend fun events and expand your horizons. Definitely feel free to contact me if you’d like a tour to check out their beautiful work spaces!

Respecting your money is one of the keys to welcoming more financial prosperity into the New Year, so give your wallet a makeover by getting rid of old receipts and keeping things neat – separating your bills, coins and cards into appropriate compartments. If your current wallet isn’t up to the task, consider an upgrade. I love this fun Hawthorne Lane Confetti Dot Lacey by Kate Spade ($178). It has multiple sections to keep all your essentials organized, with enough room to stash some of your business cards for on-the-go networking. Bonus: it has a wrap-around zipper to ensure nothing falls out and gets lost in your handbag!
