10 Tips For Those In Need Of A Financial Facelift 10 Tips For Those In Need Of A Financial Facelift Shares Regardless of your current situation with money, most of us would like to have more and here are 10 things you can do to change your financial situation and have fun doing it. 1 Stop Ignoring Your Finances If money is a topic you have avoided, you may wish to start by taking an honest look at your current money situation. How much debt do you have? What are your expenses? What would you like your life to be like and how much money would it take for you to live – joyfully? Taking an honest look at your finances is not about judging you. Rather, it’s about getting a clear picture of where you are today so that you can start to ask, “What’s it going to take to change this?” And, then start making the choices to do just that. You can change anything if you are willing to look at it. 2 Educate yourself about money Educating yourself about money can be as simple as doing a Google search such as “What is wealth?” Or, “How do wealthy people get wealthy?” Or, “What are the assets that create revenue?” If you are willing to educate yourself on anything, you will know more than 99.99% of the people out there. People aren’t often interested in increasing their knowledge and if you are, you will know a little more about something and will be able to see the value that others are not. 3 Start a 10% Account Put 10% away of everything that comes into your life as an honoring of you. This is not a rainy-day fund. It’s money you have and watch it grow. You can keep it in cash, you can keep it in a bank account, and whatever is fun for you. When you ‘save’ money, that means you intend to spend it. This is different, because when you have money, you are making an investment in you and your future. 4 Carry Around the Amount of Cash You Think a Rich Person Would Carry. How different would you feel about your life if you saw a big wad of cash every time you opened your wallet or purse instead of a lot of blank space and some half-crunched up receipts? Practice. Carry around the amount of cash that you think a wealthy person would carry. Because I travel a lot, it’s fun for me to have my cash is in different currencies. I also have gold coin worth about $2000 in my purse. It makes me happy to have it there. It makes me feel abundant. What would be fun for you? 5 Buy Things of Intrinsic Value Buying items of intrinsic value (that means that by the nature of their material they have monetary value) is a way to enjoy having money, and to also have liquid items (liquid means easily sell-able for cash) in your life that will maintain or increase their value over time. Gold, silver, platinum, antiques, rare items have intrinsic value. Consider purchasing liquid assets (things of value easily sold for cash) that also have an aesthetic beauty that add to your life, that will contribute to creating a sense of wealth and luxury in your life as well as having monetary value. 6 Make a List of Everything You Love Doing Regardless of what you’ve been told, money follows joy. Joy does not follow money. If you wish to have more money, start doing what you love to do. Get out a notepad and start writing down everything you love doing. Keep adding to it and then start doing those things, every day. Increase your joy. Money will follow. 7 Write a Create List. Not a Wish List Have you ever had a wish list? Wish lists don’t work. YOU are the source for creating your life. Rather than a wish list, write a create list of what you desire as your financial reality. Now commit to it and daily take action. 8 Change your perspective on money How many points of view do you have about money? Your point of view creates your reality. If you desire to have a different reality, be willing to change your points of view. If you have decided that you have to work hard for money, guess what? You will work hard for every dollar that comes in. To change your points of view about money, use this tool. For every point of view that you notice, say, “Interesting point of view, I have that point of view.” As you say this, you will notice that all of those points of view that you have made, real, true and significant become simply interesting. And when they are simply interesting, you are free to let them go and choose another perspective. 9 Ask Questions Continuously People make statements about money continuously, but very few ask questions. If you desire something greater with your finances, ask questions continuously. Questions are actually the beginning of change. They open the door to new possibilities and take you beyond anything you’ve considered possible up until this point. Start to ask questions like, “What else is possible here?” Or, how many revenue streams could I create?” And, “If I knew I couldn’t fail, what would I choose?” As you ask questions your sense of what’s possible will become greater and when your sense of what’s possible becomes greater, your money will too. 10 Choose Gratitude Gratitude often gets overlooked but it is one of the most dynamic tools for changing things. When you receive money, are you grateful for every dollar, every cent, that comes into your life or do you tend to think, “That’s not much,” “It will cover this bill,” “I wish I had more”? What if, whenever money came in, and whenever money went out, you were grateful? To increase your gratitude with money, try this: For every dollar that comes in, stop and say, “Thank you. I am so glad this showed up. Can I have more please?” And, for every dollar that goes out, for every bill you pay, take a moment to say, “Thank you. I am so grateful that I have electricity for another month. What would it take for this money to come back to me 10 times?” No one should have a money problem – especially not you. And, if you are willing to commit to your life and put these tools into practice every day, a new financial reality is possible. It’s not a quick fix, but it is a pragmatic solution.
